Try Now FAQ

TRYNOW

HOW DOES THE TRY AT HOME PROGRAM WORK?

Your 7-day trial begins once your items are delivered! We’ll authorize your card at checkout -- which sets aside funds for the full amount of the order as a pending hold -- but you won’t be charged until after your 7 day trial period ends.

WHAT IF I DON'T LOVE ONE OF MY ITEMS?

You are welcome to send any items you don’t want back to us! You can start your return process here. When creating your return, select to return for a refund. Rather than receiving a normal refund, you will see the authorization on your account will be released within a few business days (bank processing time). You’ll only be charged for what you keep along with any shipping fees.

WAS MY CARD CHARGED WHEN I PLACED THE ORDER?

We validate your card with an authorization for the full amount of the order. You'll see this pending authorization on your statement, but rest assured, that's not a charge! We'll only charge your card for the items you decide to keep at the end of your trial period.

These authorizations are refreshed periodically. When one authorization expires, we re-authorize your card, which ensures we're able to charge your card at the end of the trial period for what you keep. Some banks take a few business days to drop the original authorization, so you may see two pending holds for a day or two. Rest assured, we will only charge you for the items you keep after you’ve had a chance to try them!

If the authorization fails, our system will automatically charge your card as a part of our fraud prevention protocol. However, our regular return policy is still in effect! If there are items you’d like to return, you are still eligible for a refund!

WHAT’S AN AUTHORIZATION?

An authorization is a temporary hold on your card for the cost of the items you’re trying.

WHY DOES Scout and Poppy USE AN AUTHORIZATION?

Similar to hotels, gas stations, and grocery pick-up, we use an authorization to guarantee the safety of purchases through this program.

WHEN DOES THE TRIAL PERIOD BEGIN?

We track when the package was delivered to your house, which starts the trial period. You have until the end of your 7-day trial period to postmark returns!

HOW DO YOU KNOW NOT TO CHARGE MY CARD FOR THE ITEMS I’M RETURNING?

We provide 7 extra days for any returns to arrive at our warehouse before charging your card. Once the items are returned, we inspect and update your order status so you are only charged for the items you chose to keep, as well as any shipping fees.

Be sure to review the return policy for item condition requirements. If we determine items do not adhere to our return policy, you will be charged.

WHAT IF I DECIDED TO KEEP THE ITEMS BUT THEN WANT TO INITIATE A RETURN AFTER THE END OF MY TRIAL?

No problem! Our regular return policy is still in effect. You can send item(s) back for a refund, as long as the return is postmarked within 30 days of the purchase date.

HOW DO SALES AND DISCOUNT CODES AFFECT TRY NOW ITEMS?

Sales and discounts work the same way with TryNow items as they do with BuyNow items! When you arrive at the checkout, make sure to enter the discount you are wanting to use in the space that says “Gift card or discount.” Once your trial is over, we will only charge you for that discounted price should you choose to keep any items.

WHO HAS THE FUNDS?

You do! We do not charge you for the cost of the item/order. All funds are still in your account and will not be transferred to us unless you love the product and decide to keep it at the end of your trial!

HOW LONG DOES THE HOLD STAY ON MY CARD?

The authorization stays on your card for the extent of your trial. At that point, your card will release the hold and charge only for what you chose to keep and any shipping fees.

WHAT IF I RETURN ALL OF MY ITEMS?

The authorization will remain on your card until your returns are processed. Once a refund is issued, the authorization will drop from your card and you will only be charged for any items you chose to keep and any shipping fees.

WHY WAS I CHARGED EARLY?

If you checked out with Buy Now items, we charge for those immediately and reauthorize your card for just your Try At Home items when they are shipped. If you are charged before the end of your trial, this is due to your card failing a reauthorization. Don’t worry, our regular return policy is still in effect! Should you choose to return your items, you can do so through our normal returns process to receive a full refund.

HOW DO YOU AUTHORIZE AND CHARGE MY CARD?

Our Try At Home program is enabled by our partner, TryNow. If you checkout with a Try At Home item, TryNow coordinates payment so that you are authorized for all items outstanding, but only charged for the items you love.

WHAT IF I CHECKED OUT WITH A DEBIT CARD?

The authorization on your card reserves the amount of your order by removing it from your accessibility but it still counts toward your total balance. When your card is reauthorized, if the order amount is no longer available, your card will charge your card as part of our fraud protection policy to ensure that Scout and Poppy is compensated for the items you have in your possession.

IS SHIPPING FREE ON TRYNOW ORDERS?

Customers are responsible for both the original and return shipping fees on TryNow orders. If your order is over $60 you will be eligible for FREE Continental U.S. initial shipping!

I’VE DECIDED I WANT TO KEEP MY ITEMS, NOW WHAT?

At the end of your trial period, the authorization will drop and you will be charged for the items you kept. If you would like to have that charge go through sooner, you are welcome to Contact Us to have that trial changed and the charge moved up for your order.
